Taylor Swift (And Mom) Talk Childhood With Katie Couric

Posted by Unknown at 11:47 PM

In a special airing Wednesday night (February 4), Grammy performer Taylor Swift — who frequently travels with her mom in tow — revealed to Katie Couric that as a child she was inquisitive about things and grew to love storytelling, traits that, her mom admits, made her a handful.
"I think I fell in love with words before I fell in love with music," the singer told Couric about her childhood. "All I wanted to do was talk and all I wanted to do was hear stories. I would drive my mom insane driving down the road [with her]."
Her mom, Andrea, spoke a bit about what Swift was like growing up, saying, "She had the potential to be exhausting."
Swift learned to quickly rely on her mom's company when in her teen years after she had a falling out with friends at school and found herself with a lot of free time.
"I had that group of friends when I was about 12 and then I lost that group of friends," the 19-year-old told Couric after the pair went shopping. "They all decided they didn't want to hang out with me anymore. I would go sit at the lunch table and they'd move their trays to another table, which is not fun to go through. So, at that point, all I had was my mom."
Swift also admits that another passion of hers is crime shows, one of which she has had the distinct honor of being on. "I'm obsessed with [them]," she said. "I'm so excited [about my CSI cameo]. That's one of those dreams that I've always had. I've always joked around that my dream was to do 'CSI'."
Taylor Swift will sing a duet with Miley Cyrus at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night.
